Linda & Joan Zine Club

WHAT IS THIS?

Zine Club is an art project by Russell Quinn to document artifacts and narrative fragments from his family’s history. Over the course of ten issues, a nuanced backstory will emerge, of a family connecting across generations to counter the losses and challenges they face.

While this project can stand alone, it has been designed as a companion experience for Linda & Joan, the forthcoming narrative video game based on Russell’s family (currently in development).

WHAT ELSE?

Zine readers will find that in-game characters, conversations, situations, and found objects resonate with a deeper meaning. Furthermore, certain side puzzles in the game will only be solvable by those who own the printed zines, giving access to hidden scenes exclusive to Zine Club members.

Finally, each zine issue will include bonus items — such as photographs, embroidered patches, stickers, posters, and more — from both the Linda & Joan game world and the real world.

FAQ & SUPPORT

Q. How many issues have been released so far?
A. Issue #1 (February 2021), Issue #2 (April 2021), Issue #3 (June 2021), Issue #4 (September 2021), Issue #5 (November 2021), Issue #6 (March 2022), Issue #7 (June 2022), Issue #8 (November 2022), and Issue #9 (June 2023) are out.

Q. When will I receive back issues if I join Zine Club today?
A. All back issues will be sent immediately (unless you’re outside North America, see below).

Q. And what about future issues?
A. They will be produced every 3–6 months between now and the release of Linda & Joan. You’ll receive an email when each issue is in the mail.

Q. Do you ship to Canada or Mexico?
A. Yes! Subscribers in Canada and Mexico are treated like those in the USA — new issues will be sent as they are released and all back issues will be sent immediately. Shipping is calculated at checkout. All prices are in USD.

Q. What about elsewhere in the world?
A. New international subscribers (i.e. not in the USA, Canada, or Mexico) will receive all ten issues in one shipment, once they have all been released, which is estimated to be in late-2023. This is because international subscribers were running into delivery problems and outsized import-tax bills. This feels sad — sorry! But, joining today means you’ll receive the current ten-issue discount. Shipping is calculated at checkout. All prices are in USD.

Q. What if I just buy an individual issue?
A. Individual issues are always mailed immediately, wherever you are in the world.

Q. I previously bought an individual issue, can I now join Zine Club?
A. You can get a discounted price to join and complete your collection. Email me.

Q. What if I change address before I receive all ten issues?
A. Email me with your new address and I’ll make sure they get sent to the correct place.

Q. Can I purchase a Zine Club membership as a gift?
A. Yes! Just make sure it’s a separate order, so you can set the correct mailing address.

Q. Can I buy zines in person?
A. Des Pair Books (Echo Park, Los Angeles) stocks some individual issues. Several branches of Los Angeles Public Library have Linda & Joan zines in their Zine Collections where you can read them for free.

Q. I have another question…
A. Email me!
